For three days of festivities at the 9th annual “Great Viking Festival.” An event not to be missed! Numerous reenactors from France and Belgium will join the association’s volunteers to bring to life the civilian and military lives of 10th-century men and women. From textile production to combat techniques, from charcoal making to shipbuilding, from jewelry to funeral rites… Come discover the crafts that shaped their daily lives, as well as the essential elements for the smooth functioning of their communities. An immersion in the Viking Age for the whole family. – 10th-century Scandinavian crafts (wool work, woodworking, pottery, tanning and leatherwork, coin and jewelry making, glass spinning, tablet weaving, shield making, and beekeeping). Following the success of previous years, the Ornavik Games will return in 2026: a series of events to determine the winners of the trophy. On the program: glima (Viking wrestling), knatlekir (ball and stick game), tug-of-war, shield raising, and a skaldic poetry contest.
